Heirloom's digital art textiles are inspired by our favourite leaf motifs sourced from our Eucalyptus dye craft and blended with textural surfaces from iconic trees and rock formations throughout the Australian landscape. Inspired by biophilic design principles; bringing nature indoors, many of our designs feature plant morphology and leaf shapes.... ‘orbifolia’, 'longifolia' and ‘lanceolate’.
Heirloom cushions are printed in Australian with quality materials and full feather inserts (cruelty free, post consumer, full feathers).
Heirloom Fibrecraft textile designs are produced by Kim Shipton. Kim applies an art technique of natural dye extraction and leaf embossing which is in turn developed into digital art. Heirloom's authentic designs are available on premium quality cotton fabrics and are suitable for a range of soft furnishings or fashion projects.
Wall paper and wall murals are also available upon request - email@example.com
Heirloom's original artwork is hand produced by Kim Shipton who has developed her designs using more than 40 Australian native plant species to extract natural dyes and create leaf motifs such as Orbifolia, Lanceolate and Longifolia in her collection of textiles. The natural palette is made from many varieties of Eucalyptus, Acacia, Melaleuca, Grevillea and specialty species.
Today, we are able to commercially print Heirloom designs and offer a developing range of cushions, wallpapers and fabrics to reach an exciting scope of interior design and artistic applications. Our new Ink Printed range uses Sustainable Green Print production. Heirloom designs are currently printed on Cotton Satin and we aim to offer further fabric alternatives ranging in texture, weight and sustainability in the near future.

Raw silk is hand dyed in Heirloom's signature extract created from varied species of Australian native plants. Every curtain, dyed in pairs, is made from a unique dye bath which results in subtle leaf impressions and random markings. Our undyed silk textile is a natural, golden colour which works beautifully with our dyes. The textile surface also offers subtle, textural creases that enhance the characteristic of each curtain.
The Freefrom curtain is designed to create a tranquil and elegant styling element. Directional lighting through the textile can add another intriguing element.
Heirloom Australian textiles are individually tailored pieces. Premium natural materials are selected for weaving, sewing, embellishing, felting, knitting and dyeing to create elegant scarves and interior soft furnishings.
The Heirloom studio is located in Mona Vale, Sydney and produces a fast turnover of unique pieces. The following selection is a taste of their production.

The latest selection of Heirloom's popular scarf designs have been developed over ten years of mixed craft application and textile art, by Kim Shipton. In earlier days, Kim's 'Art Series' pieces were created from her signature palette of Eucalyptus dyes, knitting, embellishing and felting. Today her work composes digital art interpretations of her original pieces which are printed onto premium, natural textiles. Each design reflects a commitment to biophilic elements with a twist of Avant-garde style.
A selection of fine alpaca wool throws and cushions compliment Heirloom Fibrecraft's signature textiles and cushion prints.
Heirloom cushions are created from 'contact' printing with native plants, natural dyes and photographing unusual, artful surfaces within Australia's landscape. These are digitally composed into textile designs by the artist.
Add a deeper tactile element with our single production Knitted or hand Dyed 'Art Series' cushions.

Heirloom's luxury scarves and shawls originated as hand dyed pieces by Kim Shipton on assorted Australian Merino Wool, hand woven 'wild fibre' wool and silk textiles. Kim developed a signature palette of colours and prints which are more commonly presented in digital art form today on new, premium textiles.
Since evolution, humans have been connected to the abundant properties and elements of plants as shelter, food source, medicine and decoration.
Herbal teas are not only ideal for health and well being, they are useful as dye baths. Imagine immersing a piece of cloth into various herbal tea baths and allowing them to soak for several hours. This is similar to the Eucalyptus dyeing technique. In every plant, there are endless elements that are taken up from the soil. If you look at the Table of Elements, many of these are naturally found in soil. When leaves are heated these minerals are released and when cloth is wound tightly around leaves and branches the minerals are absorbed to create an outline of the leaf onto the cloth. This is assisted with protein in the textiles we use which acts as a binding agent. We also temper the dye bath with natural alkalis and citrus acid.
ETHICAL and SUSTAINABLE resources are a priority to Heirloom Fibrecraft. We are exploring alternative natural textiles while wool and silk remain our core choice of fibre as it provides Protein; a key ingredient in our handmade, signature native plant dye extract.
WOOL yarns and felting fibres are sourced from small scale hobby farmers in Australia who treat animals with care and respect.
Wool from our 'Wild Fibre' range supports a Fair Trade community in India where ethical ERI silk is woven with local wool. Eri silk is sourced from the silk worm cocoon post pupae (once the silk worm leaves the cocoon, unlike commercial silk which boils the silkworms within the cocoon).

Natural textiles, yarns, dyes, needle craft and digital media are applied and assembled into creative accessories by Kim Shipton. Traditional and contemporary craft concepts have been woven together for over 10 years of design expression and sold through national boutique stores, galleries, art events and for merchandise at special events that include Opera Australia. Kim's longterm passion for sustainable design stems from her degree in environmental studies and earlier interests in Permaculture (which spawned her love for plants and natural dyes). Selecting sustainable resources is a standard design principle for Heirloom Fibrecraft.
